The Mercedes-AMG GT is the German luxury brand's supercar. Offered in two- and four-door coupe body styles, and as a convertible, its aim is to cover as much performance car ground as possible. All GT variants get big power and track-friendly aerodynamic touches for high-speed stability. Four-door models get bolstered rear bucket seats and a big trunk. All GTs are endowed with a capable chassis to keep up with the potent V8 motor.
Issue:
On certain vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive (4Matic), the transmission wiring harness may not be routed correctly. As a result, water could enter the wiring harness connector and cause a short circuit.
Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-342.
Safety Risk:
A short circuit can create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission wiring harness.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the 80 A fuse may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the fuse could overheat and fail. If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of power to the wheels. This could also cause the instrument cluster not to work.
Safety Risk:
A fuse and wiring that overheats can create the risk of a fire. A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Warnings, tell-tales and gauges that don't display could also increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the main fuse box.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the bolt for the 48 V ground connection may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the wiring could overheat and melt.
Safety Risk:
Wiring that overheats and melts can create the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the ground connection.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the fuel delivery module could fail. If this happens, the engine may run rough or may not start. This could also result in a sudden loss of engine power while driving.

Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.

Issue:
On certain vehicles, the exit warning feature may not work properly. As a result, a person leaving the vehicle may not get a warning while opening their door in certain traffic situations where another vehicle is approaching from behind.
Safety Risk:
Opening a door while a vehicle is approaching from behind could create an increased risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the multimode radar software.
Issue:

Issue:
On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the SIM card for the communications module could disable itself. If this happens, the eCall system would not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed.
Safety Risk:
If the eCall system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.
Issue:
On certain AMG GT Black Series models, the wiring to the front wheel speed sensors may be too short. As a result, movement of the suspension or steering could cause damage to the wires. If this happens, the vehicle dynamics control system may not work properly.
Safety Risk:
A vehicle dynamics control system that does not work properly could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the wiring to the front wheel speed sensors. To minimize the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should drive with caution until the recall repairs have been completed, and avoid tight turns (full lock) or road conditions that may cause full suspension travel.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the driveshaft may detach from the transmission flange. This could cause a loss of power to the drive wheels.
Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the drive wheels could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace the carbon-fiber driveshaft.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the lock that secures the backrest on the left-rear seat may be defective. As a result, cargo in the trunk could load the backrest in a crash and cause the lock to fail. If this happens, the seat backrest could tilt forward.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with rear seat backrests that can be unlocked electronically.
Safety Risk:
A backrest that tilts forward in a crash could increase the risk of injury.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the backrest lock on the left-rear seat. As a precautionary measure, you should avoid loading heavy items in the trunk until the recall repairs are completed.
Issue:
On certain AMG GT C and GT R models, the ground wire for the communication module may not have been installed. As a result, the emergency call feature may not work properly. This could cause difficulty speaking to the call center and the vehicle location may not be sent.
Safety Risk:
If the emergency call feature does not work correctly, there could be a delay in response from emergency services.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to repair the wiring harness for the communication module.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, a clip for the wiring harness for the automatic transmission may not be installed correctly. Over time, this could result in the wires to rub against the drive shaft and become damaged. This could cause a loss of engine power and/or an engine stall. Additionally, depending on which wire is damaged, the manual and automatic "P" (PARK) gear selection might not be available. If the parking brake is not used when parked, the vehicle could move suddenly.
Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to check the mounting of the clip and the wiring harness. They will be corrected or replaced as necessary.
Issue:
On certain vehicles equipped with a 4.0 liter 8-cylinder gas engine, the oil feed line to the turbochargers could leak. As a result, oil could leak onto hot components in engine compartment.
Safety Risk:
Oil leaking onto a hot engine components could cause a fire.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the oil feed line to the turbochargers.
Certain Roadster(convertible) models may have been built with incorrect software in the airbag control unit, and may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. In the event of a lower speed crash, this could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than necessary, which could increase the risk of injury for an out-of-position passenger. Correction: Dealers will update and correct the airbag control unit software.
On certain vehicles equipped with AMG Performance Seats, the front passenger seat occupant classification system might not function as intended, which could lead to the misclassification of the seat occupant. This could result in a child seat possibly being classified as a person, or a light/small statured person being possibly classified as a child seat, which could incorrectly activate or deactivate the passenger frontal airbag. Both cases could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant in the event of a crash. Correction: Dealers will update the occupant classification system software, and if necessary, replace the passenger seat cushion.
On certain vehicles, the seatbelt may bind within the seatbelt guidance loop. If the seatbelt were to bind, a slack in the seatbelt may develop, which in the event of a crash, may not restrain the occupant as intended, and increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will remove the spacer disc in the seat belt guidance loop and add an additional sliding component to guide the belt.
